Abstract

COVID-19 became the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in older adults due to the inherent vulnerability to SARSCoV-2 transmission, the lack of effective vaccines and treatments against infections, as well as dysregulated inflammation.

The case of a 75-year-old patient with comorbidities is presented, who overcame the critical phase of the disease. After receiving treatment in an intensive care unit for complications such as severe pneumonia, refractory hypoxemia and septic shock, she managed to recover and was discharged.
