Mentoring is recognized as one of the strategies for building resilience. By forming a bond between the mentor and the mentee, emotional openness is generated, which allows the student to communicate their problems and find solutions. Despite this, studies and reviews on the subject have focused on other benefits of mentoring. It is concluded that mentoring contributes to the development of clinical skills and soft skills of the medical student, in addition to providing emotional and moral support during the different stages of their training. There are difficulties in the implementation of mentoring programs related to costs, availability of mentors, workload and the difficulty of being able to reconcile these activities with the academic field. The efforts made by various mentoring programs are highlighted, aimed at training a good professional and human being.
