Abstract

Sialorrhea or ptyalism consists of the involuntary and passive loss of saliva from the mouth due to increased production, difficulty in swallowing or alteration in it. Among the causes in an older adult, we must consider neurological pathologies, drugs and psychogenic. The patient consulted for sialorrhea for twelve months of evolution, an atypical form of presentation in an older adult. It is studied in an interdisciplinary way and the diagnosis is reached by laboratory finding of monoclonal gammopathy of uncertain signifficance. The patient after medical treatment is decided surgical treatment.
We present the case of a 78-year-old woman who has been presenting for sialorrhea for 12 months, appears ill with the presence of increased VES, monoclonal bands in immunoglobulin in the proteinogram and increase FAN
