Prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in children and teenagers. Is there a relation with insulin resistance and overweight?

Introduction and objetives: Recent studies show a higher frequency in hypovitaminosis D (HD) in the worldwide population. It has been related with several clinical manifestations beside the musculoskeletal system, like insulin resistance (IR). The goal of this study is to estimate the prevalence of insufficiency-deficiency of Vitamin D in infants-adolescents based on serum levels, and determine an association with IR and overweight.
